The Music Journey of Jim Rhodes
For over 35 years, I've lived and breathed the music business. My journey started in London, Ontario, took root during a wonderful 30-year chapter raising my family in Vancouver, and ultimately led my wife Renee and I to the sunny shores of San José del Cabo in 2023. Today, we proudly call Baja our other home.
Behind the scenes, I've had the absolute privilege of keeping the music moving for some of the world's biggest artists. As a guitar technician, backline tech, and stage manager, I've shared the road and the studio with legendary acts like Rush, Sarah McLachlan, Bryan Adams, Kim Mitchell, Tom Cochrane, Loverboy, Meatloaf and many others, including a three-year stint as the personal studio tech for legendary producer Bob Rock.
When I'm not on a stage, I'm connecting the industry's top players, handling worldwide artist relations for Vancouver-based Radial Engineering.
But through all those years of tuning guitars on tours and in studio I never stopped playing my own. These days, you can find me playing local gigs and events right here in San José del Cabo. Big stages or small acoustic corners, I play them all for the pure joy of sharing music with people.
Because around here, "no bad days" isn't just a saying—it's a lifestyle.
If you see me playing around town, drop by, pull up a chair and say hi. After all, cold beer always tastes better on a warm day.
